This guide walks you through transferring your domain name's registration from another registrar to Tieriun. This process applies to Tieriun's Accepted TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us, .blog, .me, .ong, .cloud, .dev, .online).
Before You Start
To initiate a transfer, make sure the following requirements are met:
- You must be listed as the Registrant or Administrative Contact for the domain in the WHOIS database. Tieriun cannot process the transfer if you don't appear in one of these roles.
- The domain must be at least 60 days past its initial registration or last transfer (standard ICANN requirement).
- The domain must be unlocked (Transfer Lock/theft protection turned off) at your current registrar.
- You'll need the domain's authorization code (EPP code), which you can request from your current registrar.
- The email address on file for the administrative contact or registrant must be active, since a transfer confirmation will be sent to that address during the process.
Steps to Start the Transfer
- Request the EPP code from your current registrar. This authorization code is required and is typically available from your current registrar's control panel.
- Unlock the domain and disable WHOIS privacy (if enabled) at your current registrar so the contact details can be verified during the process.
- Start the transfer from your Tieriun Control Center™. Log in to your account and add the domain as a transfer request, entering the domain name and the EPP code you obtained.
- Complete payment for the first year of registration. Starting a transfer requires payment of the applicable first-year registration fee for the domain.
- Approve the transfer confirmation. You'll receive an email (typically from your previous registrar's system or ICANN) asking you to confirm the transfer. You must approve it within the timeframe stated in that email, or the request may expire or be rejected.
- Wait for the transfer to complete. Domain transfers to Tieriun generally take 5 business days, unless your current registrar rejects the request.
After the Transfer
- Once the transfer is complete, Tieriun becomes the domain's new Registrar Service Provider.
- You won't be able to transfer the domain to another registrar for at least 60 days, unless ICANN issues a ruling stating otherwise.
- By default, domain privacy will be disabled and your account's registration data will be used as the domain's WHOIS data, unless you enable privacy from the Control Center™.
- Review and update the domain's contact information (Registrant, Administrative, Technical, and Billing) from the Control Center™ if needed.
Important Notes
- It's your responsibility to promptly address any issues that come up during the transfer to make sure it completes successfully.
- The payment made when starting the transfer is non-refundable, even if the transfer is rejected by your previous registrar.
- By initiating or attempting to initiate a domain transfer to Tieriun's systems, you reaffirm your unconditional acceptance of Tieriun's Terms of Service.
