Astro™ for Starters plans are designed to deliver great performance at an affordable price. To achieve this, we use burstable performance processors.
But what exactly does this mean, and how does it affect your website? Here is a simple explanation.
The "Savings Account" Analogy
Imagine your server's processor (CPU) working like an energy savings account.
- The Baseline (the fixed income): Your server is guaranteed a constant base level of performance at all times, depending on your plan.
- Earning Credits (saving up): Most of the time, websites are not using 100% of the processor. When your server uses less energy than its baseline (for example, at night or during low-traffic periods), it begins to accumulate "CPU Credits" in its account.
- Bursting (spending the savings): Suddenly, you publish an article or launch a promotion, and traffic spikes. At that moment, your server needs more power. Automatically, the system uses the accumulated "CPU Credits" to burst above the baseline and operate at up to 100% capacity, ensuring your website loads quickly during the traffic surge.
What is the guaranteed baseline performance of my plan?
Each Astro™ for Starters tier is allocated a percentage of processor usage that will always be available, regardless of whether you have credits or not:
- Level 1: 20% baseline performance per vCPU.
- Level 2: 20% baseline performance per vCPU.
- Level 3: 30% baseline performance per vCPU.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Our servers are configured with a strict limit to protect your wallet: we will never charge you overage fees, nor will your server be shut down. If you experience a traffic spike that lasts so long that it depletes all your accumulated credits, your server will simply adjust its speed to its guaranteed "Baseline" (20% or 30%, depending on your plan). During this time, you may notice that your website responds a bit slower during heavy processes. As soon as traffic decreases, the server will go back to saving energy and accumulating credits automatically.
Is Astro™ for Starters the right plan for me?
Yes, it is ideal for:
- Corporate or informational websites.
- Blogs or portals with variable traffic (occasional spikes and periods of inactivity).
- Development or staging environments.
- Any project that doesn't require intensive data processing around the clock.
We recommend upgrading to Astro™ (Standard) if:
- You have an e-commerce store with high, constant traffic.
- You run applications that continuously process massive databases.
- You stream real-time video or audio.
- You need 100% guaranteed processor capacity 24/7. (Our standard Astro™ plans use dedicated processors and are not credit-based).
